You know you're getting something special right from the opening moments of "Attention," the lead track, which opens with a voice intoning "Attention. Amazing. New. Music. Yes." and breakbeat pioneer Rennie Pilgrem delivers the goods on one phat-bottomed tune after another. Still going strong fifteen years after his debut as a member of Rhythm Section, Rennie keeps the funky breaks coming, especially on "Fuego 2," a collaboration with Überzone and the bonus track "Acid Part 3" from the motion picture "The Football Factory." Less successful are two tracks with female vocalists. Sara Whittaker-Gilbey on "Coming Up For Air" sounds a bit a bit formulaic and MC Chickaboo on "Celeb" is a bit out of place here. Fortunately, things pick back up with the solid 1-2-3 punch of "Trevor Pistol," "Go Back," and Atlantis" before the closing bonus track. This is a solid album of dance-y grooves that should find a home in funky nightclubs and house parties the world over. Ripe for remixing, hopefully TCR has some 12" releases up their sleeves - "Perfecto Pistol" anyone?
