Water Music enlists young producer/DJ duo Filo & Peri to compile and mix this hot collection of trance tracks. It claims to reflect the energy and intensity of their live set, and if that's the case, this is one DJ act to watch.
Filo & Peri keep the energy moving with inclusions from label staple Kyau vs. Albert to trance genius Armin Van Buuren. "Secrets Broke my Heart (Airbase instrumental mix)" is the most astounding track on the disk. Polished high energy programming is accentuated with spurts of acoustic guitar; a real club throwdown! The mostly instrumental "Closer Now (Mike Shiver's catching sun remix)" is awash in beautiful synths and complimented by sparse gender neutral vocals (I can't discern whether they're male or female!). The continuous-mix disc closes with Filo & Peri's own creation, "(c) 1999." This is not a Prince cover, but a solid upbeat trance instrumental.
There are a few songs that have been included on too many Water compilations of late, but overall I counted at least ten out of sixteen enjoyable cuts. Definitely recommended for any fan of trance.
