Prodigy's fourth and Senior album entitled "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned" may be one of the most talked-about rock albums of the decade. With a bevy of guest artists and several years in the making, this 12 track effort is undoubtedly a successful notch in the belt for the veteran electronica band.
The opening single of the album "Spitfire" is also the main audio backdrop for Paris Hilton's horror/thriller motion picture "House of Wax". Strangely enough (and in the strangest of Prodigy fashion), the vocals of "Spitfire" are rocked-out by none other than award-winning actress Juliette Lewis (of Natural Born Killers fame).
"If I was in world war two they'd call me Spitfire!....FIRE!"
The original track is ruthlessly hard and edgy "Prodigy'esque" electro-breaks fueled by grindingly overdriven guitars and synth stabs. Juliette Lewis' hardcore vocal screams backed by Prodigy's unmistakable earth-shattering drum breaks ensure this single gets a blue ribbon at the county fair. The next two remixes are less than noteworthy to say the least. Unlike the brilliant Drum n Bass remixes of "Smack My Bitch Up" and "Firestarter," the "Nightbreed Remix" of "Spitfire" is choppy and inconsistent, and basically sounds like a last-minute selection. Future Funk Squad's "Dogfight" Remix is similar to the original and more club-friendly, but lacks the intensity or raw aggression of the original.
