"Don't Cha" is the new single from The Pussycat Dolls, and here are the
remixes. Six mixes from remixers Ralphi Rosario, Kaskade and DJ Dan. Now I
don't know the original and haven't seen the video, but from the looks of
the cover it looks like the Dolls are six strippers trapped in the 80's.
Hey, nothing wrong with that! I can imagine plenty of stripper poles being
worked to death while this songs blasts the speakers. I can also bet on
hordes of sweaty circuit boys letting loose to the sounds of these fierce
remixes.
This single is a serious dose of high energy, wickedly fun and
slammin' house music. Ralphi Rosario appears in top form with his
three remixes: the Hot Freak 12" Vox, Mixshow and Freak Drummy Dub.
The Hot Freak 12" is tons of fun and Rosario gallops through this one
with fierce latin-tinged tribal hard house mayhem. Signature synth
work, driving high energy and a perfect union of music and vocals make
this mix the slam dunk of the batch. This one's gonna spread like
wildfire all summer long. Ralphi, you freekin' rock! But it's not over
yet, Kaskade puts in a silky deep mix with full vocals that, although
lacking the hands-in-the-air energy of Ralphi, is a great reinterpretation of the song, giving it a classy,
breezy feel. He even drops in a dose of Busta Rhymes, who is absent in
(almost) all the other remixes. Next up to bat is the DJ Dan Sqweegee Dub
(who collaborated with Dave Aude on this). This one features a hard, funky
house beat steeped in 70s disco sensibilities. Just the slightest touch of
Busta in this one too.
There's a drama-building drop in the middle that's
nice and sexy before the kick slams in, and drives this pimped out ride of a
remix home. Then there's a tasty Kaskade Dub, a Ralphi mixshow and Ralphi's
Freak Drummy Dub. Not a single boring mix on this CD! You peak-time players
need to head right for the Ralphi Hot Freak 12" Vox. This single is poised
for summertime delight, and the variety of mixes make it a pleasure to work
this sucka to death. The Pussycat Dolls and these ludicrously good remixers
put the fun factor in full effect.
