Wow! I can't believe it's all over. Love it or hate it, Queer as Folk has been the most honest attempt at portraying gays and lesbians on televison EVER - eat your heart out, Will & Grace. It's unapologetic, over the top, overtly-sexual attitude was only topped (no pun intended) by one thing - ITS MUSIC. House tracks could quickly become club staples across the country simply from a played during a Babylon club scene and now they can be yours to own - for the last time.
Keeping true to their previous formats, this CD is an eclectic mix of house, pop, rock, and industrial strength attitude. Geri Halliwell shares the same stage as Marilyn Manson, Ultra Nate and PJ Harvey on the same bill. Perhaps my favorite inclusion is the updated remix of Proud by Heather Small done by Peter Presta that many will remember played during the very last scene when Micheal and Brian danced inside Babylon.
If you were there from the beginning like me, this final season soundtrack is bittersweet; the show feels like it just started yesterday and now it's over. Only time will tell if anyone can fill the footprints left behind both from its groundbreaking view towards diversity and its musical power.
