Over the past few years Robbie Rivera has provided dancefloors with some of the hottest productions and remixes including "Feel This," "Girlfriend," and "Vertigo," and on his new disc from Ultra Records, Rivera does not disappoint. His latest disc, "Do You Want More," is packed with a dizzying array of original productions that showcases Rivera's ability to delve into all genres of dance music.
The disc kicks off with "Which Way You Going?", a breezy, piano-laden track that features a retro-tinged male vocal. The title track, "Do You Want More?" is a track that is so ingenious you cannot help but be amazed. Rivera combines hard electro elements with a rasta-style vocal that I'm sure will please both fans of house and reggae. Rivera changes styles yet again with "Float Away," a gorgeous trance track with stunning synth stabs and a melodic female vocal. "Games People Play" sounds like a follow-up to Rivera's big hit of last year, "Vertigo," only this time Rivera uses minimal vocals to accompany the hard-rockin electronic beats. "All About You" and "Blah Blah Blah" are a double dose of Rivera-style pulsating beats with a breathy female vocal. Rivera shows off his production work on the classical-sounding instrumental "The Drive." The disc also features two different versions of "Uptown Girls," another reggae-house jam. Unfortunately, the track falls short of the splendor of the earlier reggae track, "Do You Want More?" The disc closes with Rivera's hit "Girlfriend" (featuring Keylime), a simple yet effective house track that was a big crossover dance track on rhythmic radio.
"Do You Want More" is an artist album that showcases all of the many facets of Robbie Rivera's remixes and productions that we have heard in recent years. However, what makes this album unique is Rivera's ability to incorporate different styles of music into his own unique genre, thus bridging the gap between various styles of music. In a time when many dance tracks sound similar, Rivera goes the distance and tries something new
and as a result succeeds brilliantly.
