Miami, known for its high temperatures, tiny bikinis, and smoking bodies, has another tourist attraction ready to draw in the masses -- the music! While Latin music may be the obvious thing you think of when imagining the landscape of Miami, it's electrohouse that moves Robbie Rivera when he's down south. With the release of his new compilation, "Juicy/Miami," he has put together a summer-fueled mix of sound that is sure to captivate.
If you've come looking for big basslines and throbbing beats, then you've found them! Thirty-four (yes - thirty-four!) electro tinged house numbers throughout the 2-CD set ranging from big room vocals tracks like "Funk" from Matteo Esse & Sant. featuring Corina Joseph to more obscure things like DJ DLG's "Latin Bomb" are sure to make the summer sizzle. The track "I Stand Alone," with a remix courtesy of Rivera himself, immediatley grabs my attention with its oversized bass/synth hook and intoxicating vocals; it truly stands out from the bunch. "Faflozye" not only gets the award for strangest track name, but also the one for most impressive groove. Shmuel Flash & Huge drop a bomb with their work on this acid house monster!
This set just screams "summer" for some reason. Rivera has done an amazing job gathering the most incredible, cohesive sounds and throwing them through his mixer to create the ultimate compilation to throw in the CD player at the beach, driving around with the top down, or getting ready for a night on Ocean Drive! Miami would be proud!
