Roland Belmares has been working bodies into a sweat one way or another over the past few years. Whether it's his live appearances at various circuit events all over the world or on your CD player via one of his hot mix CDs or hearing his remixes for divas like Amber and Debby Holiday, Roland has been making his mark. His newest collection is in conjunction with the One Mighty Weekend event held at Disney World every year. "One Mighty Weekend Vol.2" is chock full of hits and soon-to-be hits and is a clear example of why this DJ is one who will be hitting superstar status very soon.
Many of the songs here are just beginning to make their way into clubs and up the charts, but thankfully the Centaur label (this CD is a part of their Party Groove series) has enough pull to get them licensed for this mix. From the first track (a hot new collaboration from Soulshakers and Ce Ce Peniston called "Shame, Shame, Shame") to the last (Sun's already classic "Gone"), you will not stop dancing. The first few tracks are more poppy and filtered house-sounding, including new remakes of Ultra Nate's signature song "Free" (now done by Mike Polo) and Shana's freestyle classic "I Want You" (now redone by Peter Presta & Billy Brown with vocals by Sarah Mattea). It doesn't take too long, though, for Roland to ease his way into peak hour anthems, including three in a row by on-fire DJ Tony Moran (Jacinta's "Can't Keep It A Secret", Darren Hayes' comeback anthem "Step Into The Light" and Ron Perkov's "Live Luv Dance"). Roland mixes all of the songs here with ease and skill and none of them seem to be misplaced or even in the wrong order. Hits from Henri ("Some Girls"), Dianne Wesley ("I Can't Wait"), and Tafuri ("You Won't Ever Leave") round out the tracks on this CD.
It's not very often than I enjoy a mix CD in its entirety. Usually there is a sudden switch from one style to another or a song that just doesn't belong is thrown into the set. This is one of the rare moments where the whole CD feels cohesive and flows perfectly. Roland Belmares makes no bad choices in song selection and you will find yourself dancing the entire time. "One Mighty Weekend Vol. 2" is out now and should definitely be put into your CD collection!
