Atereth's self-penned "Fade Away" comes with a bevy of big name remixers that take her delicately airy vocals and disperse them over a variety of musical landscapes. And with Solasso, Tony Moran & Warren Rigg, Johnny Budz, Mike Rizzo, Shanghai Surprize, Robert Larow, and Valentin all contributing remixes, it's almost an embarrassment of riches wading through this set of remixes.
Best of the bunch are the sweeping yet mellow electronic arrangements on the remixes from Valentin and Johnny Budz (who adds a beautifully trippy breakdown that intertwines vocal samples with the synthesizers), keeping the drama of the song intact with a fresh, contemporary appeal. Runners-up are the mixes from Solasso, which contrasts from pretty and twinkling to busy and buzzing electronics, and Shanghai Surprize, who turn in a marvelously uplifting UK-styled NRG mix, with squealing synths and a few Tribal flourishes to the percussion.
And while the reworks from Mike Rizzo or Tony Moran & Warren Rigg aren't among their best work, all of the mixes included are still worthy of a listen, making for a solidly well-rounded package.
