The first in a two part series, Satoshi Tomiie kicks things off hard with
his long overdue return. Released on his label, SAW Recordings, this is a
compilation made for the tech-house junkies in us all. Chock-full of
underground stompers, this is one CD underground jackers won't want to be
without this summer.
There really is something here for everyone and Tomiie does a great job
filling the disc up with a wide variety of material. A little house, a
little techno, even a little light trance (which is exactly the way I like
trance
on the light side). Opening the set with a hot mix by Kevin Freeman
and finishing with Sick's Lonely Child, Tomiie does what most can't on a
mixed CD takes you on a musical journey.
Some great tracks are weaved into this mix that speak for themself. The
Kevin Freeman track I spoke about, titled Time for Revolution, is house at
its best. It's full of fun samples, lots of changes, and a great rhythm
track as its base. Hot off the heels of their underground hit Do I Look
Like a Slut are the Avenue D girls with their latest sleaze-fest You Love
This Ass with mixes courtesy of Peter Heller and an edit by Tomiie himself.
The second CD in the series is set to be more laid-back and chilled. "I
like this music too but don't often get to play it," says Tomiie. After the
workout he gives us on ES, we'll need that musical break to wind down.
Great work!
