Seria - "Paradise"

Phatt Rabbit/Broken Records

Paradise With Three Songs

Tampa, Florida based Seria's debut disc whets out palate with three tasty tracks. The first single, “Paradise”, was produced by Jesse Saunders who has taken her under his wing. The moving dance track “Body Heat” and an R&B-style ballad “The Same Old Song” finish off the EP. The legendary Saunders has inspired Seria the songstress and opened her eyes to the idea of working with other song writers. “Body Heat” is the most pleasingly playable for DJs, pretty dope and danceable too.

Talking With Seria

I was lucky enough to catch-up with Seriar via email and she gave me the update, “The tracks have been doing well on dj pool charts across the net. It was in the Top 20 on the iDJPool dance charts. For 2009, I have many irons in the fire as I am preparing a track for release in mid 2009 and am also working on completing my album."

Her Myspace page provides a lot pictures, but no meaty information, and I kept on reading the words “albino mami” when I was researching for this piece. When asked what that meant she said “Well, I am an African American Albino. Albino Mami means Sexy Albino. When I was younger, I used to be ashamed of being albino. I have low vision, light blonde hair, hazel eyes and pale skin. Kids used to have a field day with me. There were so many names they could use. I used to let it get to me. When I went out in public, people always stared or were bold enough to come up to me and ask me, "What exactly are you?" As I grew up and moved into the music business, I realized that what had made me so odd when I was younger, made me quite memorable now. Albino Mami does not come from a vain or conceited place. It is my way of saying, I am beautiful, sexy, confident and albino.”

Summary

Wow! We’ve got another talent with a good cause here! Maybe “Mami” can become a song on her album! “I commit the same attitude to my music. Most of my songs are about confident women in relationships, getting out of relationships or having a good time. My music has allowed me to find myself.”

Kudos on the candor, and we’ll see where all of this leads. Her sound has potential and the forthcoming album will tell the Seria story, For now we can bless her with two-and-a-half stars; one for two cuts and a half for the other.

Released November 2008 on Phatt Rabbit/Broken Records.
