She came onto the scene a few years back working alongside Todd Terry with the smash hit "My Imagination." Since then, her hits have not been as powerful. "Nation" wasn't too bad, but nowhere near the calliber of "My Imagination." Well, now SK8 is back, with a definite amount of controvery. Her new track "Tina" (yes, it's a song about the drug crystal meth) is finally creating some buzz on the dance circuit. This is definitely more of a novelty track. I can't say I hate it, but it's definitely not something I'm going to love either.

The mixes come courtesy Carl Ryden, Ellis Miah, and Guido Osorio. The Carl Ryden mixes are somewhat old school electro, and the robotic vocals are quite straightforward in this version. The Ellis Miah and Guido mixes are definitely the highlight of this package. The Guido mix my personal fave... it's very New York, somewhat runway, and all the circuit boys will adore it. The vocals can be somewhat hard to make out throughout Guido's mix, but it still packs the most punch. Ellis Miah's mix and dub are also quite tasty. I have played both the Guido and Ellis Miah mixes and they've worked quite well for me.

Although the lyrics to this song are rather controversial, the production is fairly good, so it's worth giving SK8's new single a chance. I don't expect this track to hang around for weeks, but it's fun for now.
