As the saying goes, better late than never. Still, I fear that I have done the loyal readers of this web site a disservice by not getting the reviews of Sonique's "Can't Make Up My Mind" and "Alive" written earlier since dance music singles don't seem to stick around on the shelves very long - especially the good ones. And they are good ones. "Can't Make Up My Mind" was released late in 2003 and widely available in the U.S. early this year. Yet surprisingly, it did not make as big a splash in the U.S. as it should have. After all, it is not like Sonique has not had success here. See "Sky" and "It Feels So Good" (two must have singles by the way).
They both got play on mainstream radio stations and "Sky" was even used in a television ad for a theme park. If I had to guess as to why "Can't Make Up My Mind" has not gotten the same attention that "Sky" and "It Feels So Good" have, it is because the song is more soulful and the lyrics more powerful. Still, the Michael Woods Remix just screams "playme" and should have gotten more widespread airplay as well as club play. As for the lyrics, they are very club appropriate - even asking the eternal question "should I be good or bad?" You should be bad and buy this single full of good remixes. You will not be disappointed, especially if you like "Sky," "It Feels So Good," and "I Put A Spell On You."
