The King of Space, Steve Lawler, brings us his latest trilogy, 'Viva'. With the successful launch of his Viva parties in Ibiza last summer and the Miami Winter Music Conference, Lawler brings us a three day journey through everything House, minimal, experimental, ambient, and downtempo. What makes this album so magical is that Lawler has taken time out to reedit many of the tracks to accommodate his own personal style.
Disc 1, entitled Day 1, takes no prisoners. After a fateful Lawler intro we get right into the chunky sounds of Chelonis R Jones 'Deer In The Headlights.' Other notable tracks on day 1 include Vibe Dealers' 'Vibe Di', MK & MTV's 'Acid Test', and Audiofly's 'Inside The Beat,' remixed by DJ Remo. Day 1 brings to the table an up-front mix of dancefloor tracks. Pure Lawler, flawless mixing and programming. The builds and drops are much anticipated- a peak time disc.
Day 2 represents another night and a different mood. Whoever said "minimal is as dull as dishwater" needs to be put out of their misery. Disc 2 gives you something to grasp your teeth into from the backbreaking sounds of Anthony Collins' 'Amanda', into the sinister sounds of Jamie Jones' 'Amazon'. Lawler displays his eclectic side and shows that he's never been one to follow the crowd.
Day 3 showcases everything experimental, ambient, and leftfield; a delightful distortion from the average club mix. Day 3 features a mind-altering sound, very minimal, experimental, and an all-around departure from the norm. The Balearic sound is well represented with Day 3.
3 discs, 3 different state of minds, and 3 different reasons to Viva with Lawler.
