No doubt that when the time comes at the end of the year for DJs to pick their top dance tracks of the year, Suzanne Palmer's "Luv 2 Luv" will be at the top of most lists. Following in the footsteps of Palmer's previous two releases, "Hide U" and "Show Me," Star 69 Records releases a powerhouse single with a diverse group of remixers lending their different takes on this vocal anthem.
The original production by Cevin Fisher is downright epic. Fisher takes you on a journey with this mix, by starting off with a simple drumbeat, then bringing in a fierce organ riff that leads into Palmer's signature vocals. DJ Ohzee & Da Butcha's So Good Mix and Stephan Grondin's Stereo Mix are great interpretations on the original production, but give the track a circuit edge with both remixers utilizing more electronic sounds, as opposed to Fisher's version which is more heavy on the drums. The Drum Assassins Remix combines tribal drums with some trance elements, and although this is probably the weakest remix in the batch, it is still definitely worth giving a listen to. DJ Paulo & Todd Dutkevitch give the track a dark big-room tribal makeover resulting in one of my favorite mixes on the disc. Another favorite is Junior Luvs-2-Play It Club Mix, a classic sounding mix with a hard-house twist, as Junior Vasquez adds his twisted synth stabs throughout the mix.
"Luv 2 Luv" is packed with six stellar remixes and helps to maintain Palmer as one of the top divas in dance music. With her new album, "Home" to be released in the next few months, I can hardly wait to hear what we are in store for. If this track is any indication, dancefloors better be prepared to turned out.
