The Tim Rex Experiment featuring Veronica - Relentless (Just a Game)

SneakyMood

After creating dance floor frenzy in the late 1990's with rousing hits like "I'm In Love," "Release Me... Let Me Go," and "Someone To Hold," the formidable Veronica returns to us once again with her latest track "Relentless (Just A Game)," courtesy of The Tim Rex Experiment.

Comprised of Tim Rex and Chris Moody, Sneakymood Records is a newer label but with some veteran talent behind the scenes – Tim Rex has remixed superstars Donna Summer and Gloria Estefan in addition to working on his own releases "Relentless" (different track than above – hugely popular in its day) and "K-Otic." This single will be coming out on Rexhouse Records, a sublabel of Sneakymood. The other half of this able pair, Chris Moody, has worked side by side with DJ Skribble and had also formed the highly creative remix/production duo Mada & Moody, with DJ Mada (DJ Adam Ruiz), releasing their own tracks "Blackout," "Dancing Through The Night," "Peace Generation," and "Move 2 The Music."

Kicking off the array of remixes is the Rex and Moody Mixshow Mix with its sassy percussion and skillful vocal stuttering and build-ups. You can hear mastery in the production as this team takes Veronica's vocals and seems to make them rise and fall over the thumping bassline. The mix continues on – at times atmospheric, at times stripped down. The final result is a distinctive mix from this pair.

Demanding attention next is the Manny Lehman Circuit Mix – a remixer that too often is overlooked – this mix will make sure that doesn't happen. Circuit in its title but tribal in its sounds, Manny unleashes pure vocal acrobatic madness over a throbbing bassline. Lehman impressively full-on attacks the listener with his production of twists, turns, build-ups and those oh-so-sexy synths. Drop the Manny Dub Mix if you are looking for less vocals and a tad harder (at times) mix.

Closing out the remix package is Josh Harris with an astounding three different remixes. You read that correctly – three different remixes, all completed by Josh Harris on one release.

The Josh Harris Bouncin' Club Mix has a very euro-house/disco feel to it and would be at home on most Hed Kandi compilations. The Josh Harris Elektrik Club Mix is unfortunately nothing like his spectacular Elektrik Club Mix for Lola 'No Strings' – still, the mix is very waist friendly and full of great keyboards.

Rock on! The Josh Harris Headbangers Club Mix delivers in a big way – the moody guitar and feisty bass fully support the vocal. With swirling keyboards, Harris ignites perfect vocal looping and then the drop comes, with Veronica's pipes erupting in anger and the rock edge production ride continues with riffs rising up and down like a rollercoaster – an impressive mix.

A nice offering by Sneakymood Records – I hope they will continue to work with Veronica in the future. It was clear in listening to the mixes that each of the mixers felt passion in working with her and in the studio – indeed they were 'Relentless.'
