A few months ago, Tricky Bizzniss made a splash on the charts with their debut single "Day By Day." They are back with a new single on EsNtion Silver entitled "C'mon C'mon" with vocals done once again by Trixie Reiss. On board for mixes this time are Josh Harris, Georgie Porgie, and Johnny Budz among others. The results are a mixed bag with some treats and some rotten apples.
The first mix is the Skylab 2000 Club Mix. This version is more of a dub than anything and is definitely for fans of hard house. Clocking in at almost seven minutes, it's the one mix that I could have done without. The beats are loud and the vocals are almost nonexistent. Not a great way to start things off. Luckily, next up is the Josh Harris Club Mix. This is a perfect piece of dance candy. The guitars add a rock edge but it is an anthem all the way. Trixie's vocals are strong and sassy and the mix never lets up. Fans of recent songs by the Bodyrockers or the Killers will embrace this mix quickly. The John Daminato Splenda Mix is next. This is again a dub style mix with limited vocals and a trippy house/electro beat. It has a Sunday afternoon lounge feel to it, but it's not all that memorable. The Johnny Budz Club Mix is next and it returns us to a club sound. This mix pales in comparison to the Josh Harris mix. It's in the same vein but guitars are replaced with a synth line. It's rather boring and never reaches a frenzied state like I was hoping for.
Georgie Porgie gives it a go with his Tribal Club Mix. I find that an odd title since this mix decides to strip away the rock feel and go with a filtered house sound. Whatever it's called, it's good! During the chorus, if you listen carefully, it sounds a bit like "Love On My Mind" by the Freemasons is imitated. This is a fun, early evening version to entice the clubbers. Finally, we are given Robert G's Euro House Mix. This style doesn't really meld well with the vocals. They even sound a bit off during the chorus. This mix is monotonous and bland and does nothing for my ears nothing good, anyhow.
The second single from dance-rock band Tricky Bizzniss is a decent follow up but some of the mixes didn't need to make the final release. For maximum enjoyment, stick with the Josh Harris and Georgie Porgie versions. The others are either too noisy or too dull to do anything with. We'll wait and see what magic the mixers will attempt to conjure up with the third single.
