Victor Calderone Presents Statrax Unmixed - Volume 1

Statrax
Coming across more as a remix EP aimed at DJs than as a compilation for the average Dance consumer, this CD is basically divided up as if it were a compilation of three 12" single releases. Three hot and sweaty drum tracks from Victor Calderone open things up, "The Drive," "The Drums," and "Deep Dark Jungle," all heavy pounders with a minimal amount of vocals ready for prime time play in big room clubs.

A trio of 10 minute plus mixes of "Shakedown" from Stacey Burket featuring Audio Angel are next. The original mix booms darkly under the throaty female vocal, to which Superchumbo's mix adds layers of percussion and synthesizer stabs while Angel Moraes brings a more electronic feel to his mix, powering it with a bubbling bassline, cymbal crashes, and some fantastic rising synth bleeps in the middle of the mix.

Victor Calderone returns for the final two cuts, this time collaborating with Mac Quayle with a noisy Tribal affair called "Resonate" that thunders along nicely in both its Original and DJ Vibe mixes. Of course ardent fans of club tracks may enjoy this CD at home but really this "Unmixed" compilation would find its most appropriate home in a DJ's crate and the songs herein would be best served up on the dancefloor.
