It's great to see a true balladeer step onto the sceneone who reminds us how precious true love, emotion and passion are without a trace of the lewdness typical of mainstream RnB. V's debut The Revelation is Now Televised embodies all the high points of soul music and if nothing else, inspires hope that there is more to come. And I've just gotta put it out there, it's really refreshing to see V among the few young brothers talking about something worth listening to. Check Dwele, Anthony David, and Anthony Hamilton for more along those lines.
V hails from the soul capitol of the world, Philadelphia, and has teamed up with Jazzy Jeff's production outfit, A Touch of Jazz for his debut. The result is a true class act that showcases V's talent as a singer songwriter. The Revelation is Now Televised is an easy listen, perfect to set the stage for a romantic night in, or as a soundscape for unwinding after a long day. As such, it lacks a little on what I would call the interesting music factor, but I think that's alright. V clearly puts his soul into the music and even if it doesn't give you the hot new shit shivers, it'll surely make you sigh with relief to know that the sincerity and finesse which defined soul music back in the day, still shines through.
