Velocity Code

The self titled CD by Velocity Code features eleven tracks, ranging from the circuit house track "7 am" to the downtempo coolness of "Persistence". A bonus on the disc is Velocity Code's "Beautiful Outsider." Remixes by E-Smoove bring the CD into a more tribal state. E-Smoove, also known as Thick Dick, has a vocal and dub mix respectively. "7am" is a circuit-built track made for the divas and the Jersey shore kids. The usual thumping bass line and synth pads paired along with the vocal run throughout the track.

Track two is "Beautiful Outside" with vocal by Leila. It originally came out in 2003 off of "Mean Red Music Records". The song has a summer feel to it. "Persistence" is a downtempo track with clear rock-influenced vocals. This is one of the stronger cuts on the disc. Crashing drums and a mellow guitar lick stay in focus through out. "Is as it is" brings us to track four. Velocity Code brings in Johanna Boberg to do the honors. "Is as it is" is very similar to tracks one and two. "I Found You Here" rounds up to track number five. A synth pad buzzes along at the start of the song. A male vocal starts up as the beats flow into my headphones. This would easily fit onto one of Louie Devito's N.Y.C underground series CDs.

"Stank Groove" is track six and along with the title it brings a funky organ line and a down tempo jazz/rock combo. Onto track seven we have "Bydz" bringing the CD to life again with a more up tempo approach. Grooved-out percussion and a two minute intro brings the track to it's scattered female vocal chanting. "Reality" provides the track with another Ibiza-styled trance anthem. The track has a breezy synth and a vocal snippet. It also has a double kick through out. The bonus tracks included are E-Smoove's "Deep and Hard Vocal Mix" of "Beautiful Outside," a dub mix of the same and a Minge Binge (Pete Lorimer and Juan Martinez) Inertia mix which has nice plush strings and a funky feel to it. The strongest cut of the CD is the E-Smoove Deep and Hard Vocal Mix. I would say that the disc does give a good try. This CD would be at home to anyone that enjoys the mainstream side of dance music.
