Follow up to Water Music's "Black Martini" compilation, "White Martini" offers more Lounge music gems for your downtempo delight. Lots of funky tunes from the low end of the bpm scale dressed up with horns, strings, and the occasional xylophone or flute. Some of the tracks (the Adani & Wolf Remix of Prafuls "Sigh" or Sians "Beautiful Day"), with their extra sweetening of a female vocal, have the feel of a House track slowed down to a less-hurried pace, but the majority of these slinky songs are instrumentals that keep the focus on the shuffling beats and muted horn lines. Though the Panthers "Thunderball" uses a Drum & Bass rhythm scheme, it still fits in nicely with the whole of this compilation as do the light Latin flourishes on Namoros "Project 2000" and "Butti 49" by Kalas.
"White Martini" glides by subtly; most of the selections dont come screaming out at you but blend into a musical collage most suitable as a backdrop for intimate cocktail parties and lazy afternoons.
