Guide Review - David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland - "When Love Takes Over"

David Guetta launched his name into the serious mainstream with this much-hyped "secret weapon" track that was promoted heavily for 2009's Winter Music Conference. Since then, the track has stomped across countries, not only hitting the top of multiple charts but landing live performances on television shows like "So You Think You Can Dance". With performers lining up to work with Guetta, it won't be long before his influence is felt across the charts. You can already see some of his production work on The Black Eyed Peas new album, The E.N.D.

The real beauty and attraction that I find in "When Love Takes Over" are contained within the quiet moments. You can hear pure joy when Kelly laughs after magnificently singing "When love takes over" repeatedly atop simple handclaps and the piano melody. And I dance more to those handclaps than I do to the beats because there is so much energy within them. Even the Electro Extended, which admirably amps up the aggression in the track, contains those same beautiful moments that translate so well on a dance floor. Ultimately it is the loss of those moments that truly brings down the remixes.
