This re-release project from Frankfurt-based Frisbee Tracks has slated some of the best tracks from the early Ricardo Villalobos catalog, many of which have been our of print for years. This EP features an updated reworking from Ricardo himself of the deep and ever-excellent "Que Belle Epoque," and "Lazer @ Present," a true techno classic. Featuring affecting beats, cyclical keys, flourishing pads and unhurried escalating tension; this was and remains one of my record bag favorites since its debut release back in 2000. Crystallized – Theodor Zox – Morris Audio (CH)
Brilliant 3 track EP from the everreliable Morris Audio and rising Danish star, Theodor Zox. While all the cuts are undeniable, it is the skin tight rocker "Linier Pace" that really does it for me. With effortless rhythms, undulating bass, vocal stabs and a ton of glitchy power, this track simply and effectively obliges your dance floor to move. Deep enough for a minimal set and moving enough to rock the house, this is a true treasure. **** (4 of 5)
Everything – Francisco Foo – Curl Curl Music (DE)
Three simple, stripped-down interpretations from Curl Curl Music and Francisco Foo. While the Original Mix and "Shortboard Remix" are both notable, the real standout here is the "Frankman Remix," with its restrained keys, Jazzy Sax riffs and utterly magnificent undertones. Charger / Hypnotoad – Herbert Boese – Jaktronik (DE)
With all due respect to Side A cut, "Charger," let's cut to the chase. This 12" is a one trick pony; but oh what a trick it is. "Hypnotoad" starts off with mild enough manners, but as it progresses, Boese introduces an unpretentious, sinister, foundation-rocking bassline that will all at once electrify and electrofy your crowd. Massive early set destroyer and one of the hottest tracks in my bag at the minute. **** (4 of 5)

New imprint from NYC based Complete Distribution, features 3 tracks of butt-shaking, foot-tapping, minimal movers. "Fudge" from Holger Finsch is the real standout track here, with gripping patterns and a ton of head-nodding spice. Simple and undeniable, this is a tight release. *** (3 of 5)
Jamon Y Queso – Damon Jee & Oliver Giacomotto – Tora Tora Tora (US)
"Playground" from Oliver Giacomotto was a straightahead techno bomb that did the business for me at gigs near and far. This time, Oliver teams up with Damon Jee on a more laid back, but no less riveting effort. "Mondo Dingo" is my pick here, finished with cyclical synth stabs, stunning bass and a heap of stirring energy. Tearing it up at my live performances and on my XM mix show, this is a top release. ***** (5 of 5)
Everyday of the Week – Chris Udoh – Fade Records (US)
Former member of Wamdue Kids and present member of the ultratalented Tigerhook Corporation, Chris Udoh is an amazingly capable producer. This release for Chris Fortier's Fade Recordings once again shows his faultless chops. The "Original Mix" is a mixture of genres and styles, brought together in a track with faultless unity. With a truly massive breaks-styled bassline, quirky tech-house keys and a funky, techno-influenced drum track; this is a smooth, compelling effort that will appeal to DJs across the spectrum. The flip brings us Fortier's take on things, with stripped-down rhythms and a rising, acid flavored bassline that develops and ascends over time. Hot in a deep, late night set; this is a great night cap for an outstanding release. **** (4 of 5)
