Berlin based Get Physical Music is back with the second edition of remixes from Booka Shades recently released debut album Memento. Side A features the Catwalk Remix of "STARRZ," a glitchy, funked up, minimal rocker and the Analog Fingerprint Remix of "Friend For A Night" done by Rome native and electronic master Marco Passarani. Slow rising rhythms, deep and sexy keys and a ton of silky flavor make this a compelling remix and the standout track in this package. The EP concludes with a track not on the full length called "Panoramic," a subtle, subterranean killer on the Michael Mayer tip. Quality release from top to bottom. ****(4 of 5)
3 Ways - Hertz - ELP (DE)
Big, brash and straight bangin', Swedish don Hertz is back at it again on his debut for ELP. Body-rocking beats, booty-shaking basslines and a ton of funked-up flavor make this another top-notch release worthy of your attention and immediate purchase. Large and in charge, this man is on an unstoppable streak. *****(5 of 5)
Concrete EP - Hertz - Jericho (UK)
Another exceptional 2 track EP from Swedish man of the moment, Hertz. Dropping science on Jel Fords Jericho imprint, this release features two more body-rocking, ass-shaking techno drum tracks from one of the hottest names in the business. "Cement" takes up residence on Side A and brings enough funky flavor, frequency drops and other tricks to keep the attention deficient dancefloor locked and focused. "Sand" is a lot darker with driving percussion and a deep, moody bassline that rolls and rumbles from the foundation to the ceiling. ***(3 of 5)
Crisis EP - Boeing - Eststus Discos (AR)
One of the original purveyors of electronic music in South America, Boeing (aka Adrian Castillo) is a multi-talented artist. Hailing from Argentina, he draws on influences from the world of progressive, minimal, Detroit techno, dub and electro on this smoking 4 track EP. While each cut has its own flavor and personality, it is the deep, bubbling feel of "Ecuacion" that really did it for my dance floor and me. Quality release from front to back. *****(5 of 5)
Do Not Sleep Volume 1 - Exos - Do Not Sleep (IS)
Icelandic techno god Exos drops science on this first release for his new Do Not Sleep imprint. "After Midnight" is a blazing, gritty techno grinder, and Major Rush adds his signature hard and shuffling rhythms on his remix and bonus beats. But its the Kasheii Remix that really steals the show. Rough and relentless while remaining funky and soulful, this kid is one to watch in the future. ****(4 of 5)
The Feel - Jackal - Jackal Recordings (UK)
Absolutely massive in every way, this is a heaping helping of old school flavor for the most discriminating dancefloors. Reworking two classic Todd Terry tracks into straight techno monsters, Jackal hits the ground running and never lets up. This record will find a place in the front of your record box for a long time to come. Immense. *****(5 of 5)
