Techno 12 Single Reviews for Dancemusic.com September 29, 2004
Control Freak Cirez D Mouseville (DE)
Impressive debut for new German imprint, Mouseville. Featuring driving percussion, dark bassline, horn stabs, vocal samples and a long, tension building breakdown, Control Freak is a big brash, banging slab of techno madness. Hoodpecker is the on the flip, and is an old school, electro flavored romp with blazing percussion and a retro bassline that grows on you over time. Excellent debut release.
Freedom Lucca Acapulco (CZ)
One of the most successful female DJs in Eastern Europe, Lucca continues her fantastic string of productions with this two track EP for her new label, Acapulco. Freedom is a smooth, sexy percussive techno affair with lush pads, sexy keys and moving beats. The B-Side features Mirage, remixed by fellow countryman/ techno master, Umek. Old school synths, funky bassline and driving, Deetron-esque percussion make this an absolute dancefloor DESTROYER. Fantastic EP that is headed straight to the top of my chart.
