Top Things to Watch for During Winter Music Conference 2010

By , About.com Guide

With the 25th Anniversary of the Winter Music Conference, there are going to be some major happenings all over Miami and South Beach. Here are a few things to watch (and listen) for as you enjoy the week of sunshine..

1. Winter Music Conference 2010

Top of the list is the conference itself - WMC. If you are involved with the dance music industry in any way, shape or form, REGISTER and attend the panels, seminars and events at the Eden Roc Beach Resort and Spa.   Highlights this year include feautured Q&As with Paul Van Dyk, Pitbull and Carl Cox,  a production seminar with Grammy nominated Dirty South and a radio panel with all the major dance radio heavyweights in one room.  Also of note are great learning seminars on remixing and prodction, publicity, building the best DJ set, and new trends.

2. Ultra Music Festival 2010

Ultra Music Festivalwww.ultramusicfestival.us

The award-winning festival (Best Music Event - IDMA) will take place in downtown Miami on Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27.  The line-up is insane with virtually every genre of electronic music represented by the biggest and best out there - David Guetta, Tiesto, deadmau5, Carl Cox, Swedish House Mafia, Paul Oakenfold, Crystal Method, and Will.i.Am - just to name a few.

3. Finding the Hot Song of the Conference

To find one song that unites everyone may seem old-fashioned but while roaming the streets of South Beach and going from party to party, it definitely is a worthwhile pursuit.  It also makes a great conversation starter.. when you see that sexy person that you want to chat up.  So far the buzz seems to be on a few records that have been playing for a while ("Hey Hey" by Dennis Ferrer, "Free" by Ultra Nate with a new remix by Bob Sinclar), the buzzworthy sample record ("2Gether" by Roger Sanchez which cheekily uses "Loveshack") and the superstar collaboration ("Corrected" with Mason, DMC, and Sam Sparro.)   All bets are off though until we get down there and the CDRs and thumbdrives start flying.

4. International Dance Music Awards

International Dance Music Awards 2010 - The 25th Anniversary of the International Dance Music AwardsWinterMusicConference.com
Moving from poolside to the Jackie Gleason Theater is just one sign that the 25th Annual International Dance Music Awards is going to be major this year. The awards are truly international with the performer lineup includeing Estelle, Little Boots, Pitbull and Shiny Toy Guns. Superstar DJ/Producers David Guetta, deadmau5, BT, Roger Sanchez, and Ultra Nate will be on hand. One performance that I looking forward to is Luciana performing "I Like That" with Richard Vission & Static Revenger.

5. The Parties

While we are still trying to formulate our schedule and plan of attack, here are a few parties worth mentioning. Watch this page over the next two weeks as we pull out a few special ones to be featured.

6. Fly-Life Party @ Score

If you are looking for a party with international recording artists - the Fly-Life Party at SCore will be right up your alley.  On stage performing will be Macy Gray, Kelis, Anges, Chris Willis, Estelle, Wynter Gordon, Lolene, Josephine, Hesta Prynn, and Electrolightz.  On the decks will be Ultra Nate, Bill Coleman, Nervo and DJ Drew Tribe.  This will definitely be a major Saturday night party.
