Skrillex (a.k.a. Sonny Moore) recently hopped onto Mau5trap Records, Deadmau5 label, and released a full album of absolute insanity. Skrillex is what happens when you leave Daft Punk and Billy Corgan in the room with one another and tell them to avoid four-to-the-floor beats as much as possible. "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" is basically the lead single from Skrillex's album of the same name. It shows a contradiction of style that is apparent in the name of the song, as it wars between a soaring video-game-esque melody and some truly sick bass dubstep. Chopped ethereal vocals trip their way around the track before a kid screams something that ends in "Oh my god!", leading that thick molasses of chugging bass back in. Skrillex recently garnered attention by mixing Lady Gaga's tracks "Bad Romance" and "Alejandro". It will be interesting to see how this talent develops, as dubstep is a growing fad in the industry right now and major label Big Beat has picked this up for wider distribution.
