Dubstep is a recent genre that is gaining a lot of attention. Recently we featured "Me & You" by dubstep artist Nero, but in an attempt to show a less mainstream side to the genre, we present Slugz & Joe London's dubstep remix to Brit Eliza Doolittle's "Skinny Genes". The original has a swing vibe that is, of course, commercially viable but I felt the presentation a little dull. And then I stumbled upon this incredibly compelling production. The growl and rhythm of this remix supports Doolittle's accented singing voice excellently, as the original isn't a pop powerhouse, most of her vocals are toned down and not belted out. Listening to the syncopation of the remix may have you tapping to beats that aren't there, but if you mind then dubstep isn't your genre. I'm totally digging this, though.
