RS: Remixing Ian Van Dahl was a big coup for you. Did you approach the act differently since they are a commercial chart act?
Disco Brothers: Not really, we did another remix of a track called "Let Me Fly" by Infextious on Nukleuz which was a commercial track that we turned into a club hit which did really well for us so our ability to do the job was already recognised when Nu-Life approached us.

RS: Were you concerned that you might lose some underground credibility by remixing such a commercial act or do you care?
Disco Brothers: No, not really, we made sure the end product was right and had the right credible sound, it's the music that does the talking.

RS: I've notice some elements of breaks in your music to accent the trance/techno sound. Have you though about exploring the breaks sound more directly?
Disco Brothers: We have always liked breaks, with both our clubbing pasts stretching right back to the old skool rave days, its part of us in a way. From a production point of view, we use breaks either as part of a drop or more often than not in the groove itself, it helps keep the track alive and gives many opportunities for edits and fills that make the track stand out. As far as producing breaks goes, you never know, maybe one day!

RS: What is your favorite piece of studio gear?
Disco Brothers: It would have to be the Access Virus synth. It is now at Version C and just gets better and better. Also monitoring is the one of the most important things, so Dynaudio BM15A monitors are a must.

RS: What software do you use - Logic / Protools / Cubase?
Disco Brothers: The main sequencing software we use is Logic, along with many other soft synths and effects. As computers get more powerful and software more advanced, there is a constant stream of exciting new software possibilities in the studio these days.

RS: From your discography it looks like you are working with several different labels in addition to Nukleuz to release your music. Is this on purpose to stay free from restrictions? Do you think there would be a benefit to be exclusively on one record label?
Disco Brothers: Actually we are now exclusively signed to Armin van Buuren's Dutch label, Captivating Sounds. We do not produce for Nukleuz any more. We felt artistically it was time to move on and explore new sounds and new markets, so a European label was the obvious choice to go hand in hand with our rising DJ profile on the European circuit. We have just finished the second single, the first single "Come With Us" was released on 26th January and has already seen big support from the A list DJs. This year will be an exciting one for us on the production side of things.

RS: How has the move to Armin's label affected the way your music is presented to the public?
Disco Brothers: Well, being on a European label means more exposure to the new markets we are aiming for - it's a big step up for us to be with Armin's label and will give us plenty of opportunities to explore our European sound with our productions.

RS: Is this helping with your goal to breakout more on the European DJ circuit?
Disco Brothers: Its all about productions in Europe so yes, productions are essential for a DJ's profile and gigs so being on a European label is the best place for us.

RS: What's your favorite club to play at right now? Do you have a regular residency?
Disco Brothers: Our regular residency in the UK is at Pams House in Norwich, one of the craziest clubs in the country! We have been residents for them for over a year now and we always have a great time - we have a big following there.

RS: What was one of the highlights of 2003 for you?
Disco Brothers: Probably one of the European festivals we played at over the Summer, the Energy Festival mentioned before was definitely one of them, we also played at the Echo Festival in Serbia which was awesome.

RS: Do you have a New Year's resolution for 2004?
Disco Brothers: Keep on working!

RS: You are being tipped as the next big thing; why do you think the dance industry is bestowing this honor on you?
Disco Brothers: Because we have stuck to our guns and always done our own thing. You have to create your own niche in the market to make it in this game, we have always done this and the recognition is getting bigger and bigger as our achievements build up.
