Satoshi Tomiie & Hector Romero - Undulation 1

SAW Recordings

DJ Ron: That Scandal in New York track is getting a really good buzz, was that Satoshi's original track that he brought to the label?
Hec Romero: You know what, it's starting to happen now. We put that record out in July and now is when it's actually starting to get some like exposure. It's really because Dennis (Wheeler) who does all the press and promotion here. He was having a little bit of a hard time in the beginning with that record. It was different for the sound of SAW recordings, it was a bit campy with the whole vocal delivery of Uta Dare. It was just different for SAW Recordings but that's how we are, we felt it and thought it was cool so we released it. At first it was doing OK sales-wise, but only now it is starting to really happen. It's funny because it's really happening now in the gay circuit, with like a bunch of DJs that are doing like the circuit parties. Like all these DJs are really like supporting the record big time. As a matter of fact, Showtime is looking to use the song on Queer as Folk, so it's kind of cool that we're getting that support even almost four or five months after the release. You know how it is nowadays, singles come and go and every day there's records released. But if you can have a record still doing something six months later, I think that's something special that it can still do that.

DJ Ron: I first heard about the record from Rob Reum, the DJ at Backstreet in Atlanta. He said you've got to get this record so I bought it and then spoke to Dennis and he was all about it too.
Hec Romero: Right on, well I'm glad. So you DJ as well then?

DJ Ron: Oh yes.
Hec Romero: Excellent, cool, so hopefully we'll meet up one day.

DJ Ron: Definitely, I'll surprise you in Miami. I go to Miami every year.
Hec Romero: Wonderful, OK, we're going to do our SAW Recordings party again, our third one next year, so we're quite excited about having it again at Nerve. Do you know the club Nerve?

DJ Ron: I don't remember that club, Miami's basically a blur for me and I think it's that way for pretty much everyone.
Hec Romero: Absolutely.

DJ Ron: The Billboard thing in New York's a little more controlled, but Miami's just like eighty-five parties every night.
Hec Romero: That's right.

DJ Ron: Well speaking of that, you've been touring the world a lot it seems. Is this like your first big world tour organized for the Undulation album?
Hec Romero: Organized is the word, yes, this is my first big world organized tour but I've been playing Europe for a long time in different places. But yes, this is the first time that we actually have a project to promote so sat down all the promoters that we've worked with in the past on the phone and said that we're playing these dates together, let's work it out to promote the album. Satoshi and I started it off a month ago in Mexico, launching the tour with 10 days in alll different parts of Mexico. I got to say that the electronic scene there, the house music scene, is really on its way to boom there, it's really taking off. Then Satoshi went to England two weeks ago and I took it to Germany and we're on our way now, we'll be doing Italy, Greece. I'm doing Spain for New Year's Eve and he's doing Hong Kong. Then we're going to take it to America with the whole American tour starting in January and February. So it's kind of fun you know, doing what we love to do and make a little money out of it at the same time.
