ATB's fourth US album "Addicted to Music" tempers his club-friendly trance beats with a somber tone that pervades the entire album. The opening track "In Love With the DJ" could have easily been tongue-in-cheek farce a la "God is a DJ" but the somber tones and the expressive voice of Roberta Carter Harrison (of The Wild Strawberries) gives the melody a human emotion that is absent from most trance music. Listen past the end of the last song for "Ruby," a bonus acoustic song which showcases the emotion and intensity of Roberta's exquisite voice.

Downtempo songs such as "Everything is Wrong" and "We Belong" also highlight Roberta's warm voice yet manage show the breadth of Andre's production and songwriting skills. Andre has tapped a new source for this album and is not relying on repeated choruses or cover songs to express his ideas.

With that said, the tracks are incredibly strong as well - especially "Gentle Melody" which starts off as an acoustic keyboard line which subtley builds into a throbbing club monster. The layers which build and drop out show that vocals aren't always essential to communicate emotion.

Andre Tanneberger might be best known for his earliest hit "9pm (Til I Come)" and "Don't Stop," yet his 4th CD "Addicted to Music" showcases a musical progression which could attract a whole new audience to his style of trance music.
