Tucked away in a little-known part of Manhattan is the quaint club known as Webster Hall. Actually, Webster Hall is in Greenwich Village, a bustling, vibrant section of Manhattan, and can easily be described by one word "Superclub." With their incredible atmosphere, world-renowned resident DJs and international superstar guest DJs, it was only natural to start Webster Hall records. This record label has provided so many people with mind-melding trance albums, fresh hip-hop and relaxing downtempo house albums. Their latest installment, TranzWorld All Stars 4, features the skills of Germany's beloved DJ Shah and Pedro Del Mar. These two both host popular dance music radio shows in Germany and have remixed tracks for everyone from Paul Oakenfold to Armin Van Buuren.
This double-disc mixed compilation opens with a track from DJ Shah called "High," which has a steady build to it and is a nice way to open up the set, while Stefano Federico gives us his "Balearic Feeling." The trance-filled journey doesn't stop there. DJ Shah keeps it going with Magic Wave's self-titled song, Master Wong's "Toe," and Sasha Da Link "Exhilaration." This mix takes a bit of a techno turn on the Ole Van Bohm track "Audible Dreams." Don't let that scare you, it works nicely and has an incredible build-up to a blissful chorus. Nearing the end you get another dose of Magic Wave on "Escape from Absolom" and the host finishes it up with his fitting song "Sunday Morning" (cause that's usually when I hear songs like this). The mixing on this disc is smooth, but it has no real highlights either.
Pedro del Mar steps up to the decks and begins with his track "The Mission" remixed by none other than DJ Shah. This track has a darker sound but is a pleasant start to this disc. On "Santa Cruz" by Pacific Bay it has some male vocals with an Balearic sound and some nice string elements. I guess that is why it called the Balearic Dreamer remix. The second disc includes tracks by Shah-Music artists Lavaine, DJ T-Kay, Kingsize Lover, and Delshamar. The remixers enter as Delshamar, Magic Wave, DJ Shah, and of course Pedro del Mar. Olivier vs. PDM do some knob twisting to the Ralph Miller track Appetizer. This bangin' track has a pounding bassline with everyone's favorite airraid sirens and a furious build up. This set is well-put together and all the songs have the same qualities to them. Pedro del Mar ends it with a happy, Zenlike track in "Mayela." This song is quite stunning and is the perfect ending to a trance marathon that these two Germans performed.
If you can't get enough trance in your life, go pick this set up today.
