A nifty project coming out of the Benelux and Scandinavian countries, IllumiNation is a compendium of refreshingly funky dance music, working around the broken beat, body and soul, euro, and trance genres with a defiantly unusual attitude and a different kind of sound, like a more shambly version of Wamdue/Ananda's more pout-there stuff, or what might sound like indie garage rockers making dance beats. Whatever its motivation, IllumiNation is inspired, versatile for dinner parties and pre-club drinks as well as outside barbeque tunes for the coming summer. "Perfect Sky" has the impact of a poolside margarita, and the rough edges make it the perfect gay record to ride to.
