My Top Ten Favorite Dance Tracks of 2007!!!
So many great songs filled my ears and moved my feet this year. Only a few managed to stick with me after the lights had gone up. This is my list of my personal best of 2007:
10. Colton Ford – The Way You Love Me (Original Mix)
Not many porn stars actually move on to “legit” work after the sex is over. Colton proves that there is more to him than just a great body. This was a slice of house that had me humming all week long. His soulful vocals may surprise you.
9. Jody Watley – Borderline (Funky Junction & Marco Zappala Tribal Mix)
An R&B diva from the 80’s makes a comeback covering the biggest female singer evah! It could have been a risky proposition, but this mix makes it sound like a brand new song. Also be sure to look up the original chilled out mix from her CD The Makeover.
8. Christina Aguilera – Hurt (Chris Cox Club Mix)
Okay so technically this mix came out in 2006, but it was still going strong all winter long. I was in love with the Jonathan Peters Deeper Mindset Mix at first, but Mr. Cox takes this to a whole other level!
7. Beautiful Liar – Beyonce & Shakira (Freemasons Club Mix)
Two big voiced divas share the spotlight and the dance floor with one of the hottest remixes duos of the moment. A total event record that did better in the club than on the radio. Freemasons put their own unique stamp on this and make it an all out anthem.
6. Idina Menzel – Defying Gravity (Tracy Young Flying Monkey’s Club Mix)
Broadway gets taken for a spin on the floor with this hot mix. Tracy Young proves once again why she is one of the remixers around. Idina’s diva wailings ain’t so shabby either! A wicked good time (get it??)
5. Hilary Duff - With Love (Vission vs. Aude Mix)
Who would have thunk that Lizzy Maguire would go from teen queen to dance diva? A fun pop ditty in its original mix, this re-rub adds a whole new dimension to the track.
4. Stevie Nicks – Stand Back (Ralphi Rosario’s Beefy-Retro Mix)
Another 80’s lady celebrates her new greatest hits CD with some fab reconstructions of her classic Top 5 smash. Ralphi’s mix always grooved me best.
3. Ultra Nate – Automatic (Original Extended Mix)
Do you see a pattern here with me?? I’m stuck in the 80’s I guess, but as long as these remakes keep coming along, I’m quite happy there! None of the remixes ever really got me twirling like the original version from Ultra’s new CD Grime Silk Thunder. The extension of that was all I needed.
2. Rihanna – Don’t Stop The Music (Jody Den Broeder Mix)
I was truly torn between this track and the awesome remixes of “Umbrella”, but in the end, a Michael Jackson sample and my affinity towards decades past won out! Now it’s becoming a hit on pop radio! Girl is on fire!
1. Tony Moran feat. Kristine W - Walk Away (Evolution Mix)
As a huuuuuge Kristine W. fan for many many years, how could this NOT be my favorite tune of the year?? But honestly, it’s a great mix and Kristine has never sounded better. Every time I hear, I head for the dance floor…even if I’m not at a club!
I have a few honorable mentions (because 10 is just NOT enough!):
Samantha James Rise (Eric Kupper Remix)
Deborah Cox - Everybody Dance (Clap Your Hands) (Tony Moran Club Mix)
Nelly Furtado - Say It Right (Friscia & Lamboy Electro Mix)
Jacinta - Can’t Keep It A Secret (Moran & Rigg Club Mix)
Paul Van Dyk feat. Jessica Sutta - White Lies (L.A. Mix)
These five runners-ups also made this year a very enjoyable one for me on my night of clubbing, so they deserve a nod of respect as well.
There ya go folks….another list for everyone to quibble over…but this list is all MINE!! So there is no room for discussion…you can’t change my mind…Happy new year everyone!!
