RS: Talking about your original productions - the first single
Transient - what was going through your mind when you worked on the
track and produced the track. Were you trying to make something for
the club itself?
Victor Calderone: It was nothing in particular as we didn't go in
there thinking that we were going to create some groundbreaking thing.
Collaborating is always a little bit difficult, because you don't
know where it's going to go, even when your in the room with another
producer and another writer you don't know what's going to happen.
You could gel and the project could be really amazing or it could go
in the opposite direction where you just really didn't connect and
it's two different directions that never really vibe together. We just
went in there and had fun. I'm a big fan of DJ Vibe and he's a great
friend and a great person and I felt like I'd reacted with him before
I even knew him. We're so similar in so many ways. He's a family man
traveling and doing the same thing and we got along really well. We
went in to the studio to have fun and we were both very inspired by
each other. It really wasn't anything in a direction that came out of
the straight session. We did the track really fast and we're looking
forward to doing it again because I think it's just going to be
something that's going to get better. Now we know each the way each
other works and we're comfortable with each other in the studio, so I
think there's going to be another good one coming in the future from
us.
RS: When you're in the studio are you working in Logic or ProTools?
Victor Calderone: I've been working with Logic from the very
beginning when it was Notator, so I've been with them for a really
long time. I've also incorporated ProTools hardware into my system so
I've kind of got the best of both worlds. I do my writing and
sequencing in Logic and the hardware that I use is ProTools, so the
output comes out of ProTools hardware. It's a great combination and
I'm really happy with the way it works. It's very virtual and very
convenient these days, just get yourself a monster computer and fill
it up with all these software goodies and you're ready to go.
RS: What are you working on right now production-wise?
Victor Calderone: I have some downtime because I just built a new
recording studio, which I'm really excited about. Actually it's been
a while since I've been in the studio writing, so we just finished the
studio and I'm about to get in there and start writing some new
material and I'm really excited about it.
RS: What do you want to say to all your fans out there, old ones
and new ones?
Victor Calderone: Thank you. Thank you for the years of support and
inspiration. Thank you for creating the freedom for me to grow and
evolve and move further in to my career. Thank you very much.
