Groove State's female-fronted and yet to be titled album is self-proclaimed crossover commercial dance pop. I could see this happening since the record is, for the most part, electronic/dance. Think Samantha Fox for the new millennium.

"Dance All Night" is the strongest fare here. When the non-promo version of this album releases, I would hope it would not be buried, as the last track, however. It is the only club/4-on-the-floor dance song of the 12 cuts. Hot programming peppered with analog sounding touches make this cut shine with serious dance floor energy. "Get on the Floor" is a close runner up. Super tight vocal stacks and intermittent male spoken vocals accent a great melody over crisp, pumpin' programming.

A punchy bassline over a fairly hooky melody make "Get Sexy" a decent tune. Unfortunately, the hot bassline and vocal effects of "Dance Floor" and the funky vibe and Bananaramish melody of "All I Ever (La, La, La)" can't quite rescue them from being weighed down by overly repetitive lyrics.

Although this is a tightly mixed professional album--and the majority of dance music has never been known for the depth and complexity of its songwriting--the rest of this nameless-for-now project suffers from the aforementioned distractingly repetitive (or in some cases boring or dumb) lyrics. Although, if the producer(s) are attentive to the songwriting and keep up the programming quality, there is definite potential for this Aussie act next round.
