During the demise of the early 80s disco club scene here in the
States, as the music itself was in the midst of a revolution, one man
was (and is) credited with pioneering a sound that would change the
face of popular music as we know it. Growing up in the midst of the
new school urban R&B/Jazz Chicago music scene, it was a combination of
fates that eventually led Jesse Saunders to discover the genre & sound
that we now recognize as "House" music. Jesse successfully fused the
4/4 rhythms of disco with the (newer, fresher) underground synthesized
funk, jazz, and new wave sounds that were making their way into the
clubs. This new style of dance oriented music spread like a virus
through the underground Chicago/Midwest US club-land; eventually
ending up on National mainstream radio shortly thereafter. And the
rest is history..
Now in 2005, Jesse Saunders has a new audio goodie to add to his
extensive collection of productions. "Get Sum" is a finely tuned
machine of smoking 4/4 funk furiously mixed with a deep-filtered
nuance that will surely keep the floor moving for years to come. Not
only does Jesse manage to retain the same level of jazzed-out,
pre-rave style of musical flavor, but "Get Sum" (and remixes) also
contains progressions that will easily fit into any House and Tech
oriented set/mix. The original mix is sure to please even the purest
Houser', while the edgier tech and tribal remixes are sure to satisfy
most everyone else.
Be sure to pick ALL these mixes up at fine digital retailers everywhere - and especially look for hot press and downloads at Downbeat.com and Itunes.com.
