Madison Park offers the second single off their highly praised album, "Boutique," with "Ocean Drive" and its remixes. Driven by deep house percussion and peak-time synthesized hooks, "Ocean Drive" is as deep as it is groovy. The CD maxi-single opens with an extended club mix by Lenny B. Lenny's mix is the main mix here. Driven by an energetic drum track and deep-n-lush synths, it offers a sonic pad perfect for the vocals. Originally, I programmed this as an early bar number, but after playing it for three weeks now, I am finding it fits just as nicely in the peak time positions as well. Lenny B is also the producer of the album version, and though he is not credited in the single's liner notes, he is in the album's. Track 2 is a variation of the extended club mix; taking it a bit deeper, yet dishing out a more relaxed vibe. Track 3 sends us on a totally different journey with a fantastic trance mix by Source.
Unfortunately for the DJs, a radio edit is all that is available here of this mix. Assuring "Ocean Drive" will be welcome on every dancefloor, the Wilson's KuchMuch Mix gives us a funky breakbeat mix that pulsates with tech-house synths and old school breakbeats. The shining star here is track 5- the original album version. It is here that the true essence of the song can be adored and admired. From its breezy beat structure to the haunting lyrics, this track gives us a sneak peak of what we can look forward to in the future of dance music. For the average consumer and radio jocks, track 6 simplifies things with a radio edit of the extended club mix. For us beat freaks, the bonus beats on track 7 reward us with a useful tool.
