This 23-song 2-disc compilation contains hard-to-find remixes from DJ mixshows and imports. Unlike most of Water Music's various compilations, it is not DJ-mixed.
The label has succeeded in compiling tracks from lesser-known, popular, and up & coming artists (like Dyce) for this project. If you're mostly into radio edits or have a short attention span, be aware that most of these tunes tend to be 6+ minutes long.
Tracks of note are (on Disc I) DJ Tatana's "Elements of Culture (Tillmann Uhrmacher edit)" with its solid groove, complementary background vocals, and pleasing female lead vocal. With "Near Me (ATN remix)," Matanka serves up a hot song with stunning synth and good energy. Dyce is a dance force to be reckoned with; I had the privilege of reviewing their pre-release. So it's nice here to get a cut from a killer act with good material due soon. "Stand Alone" shines with punchy synth melody and crisp female vocals.
Disc II has Ashley Jade's "One the Run (CJ Stone ext vocal)," the most compelling track on the project; dark and urgent, this cut blends spots of Asian sounds with hot trance programming. Miss Unique's "Reaching Out for You," although short, shines with thick synths, pop sensibility, and substantial groove. The remix here of Kate Ryan's "Only If I" breathes fresh life into this tune, making for an extended version that keeps you interested. DJ Shog's "Live 4 Music (Sandler remix) holds up very well for being over nine minutes long. It's a strong instrumental cut with good movements and several interesting sounds.
